Amazing is'nt he? M&K a scopus is sometimes referred to as the poor man's black tang.{no offense}
The black is striking solid black with a blue sheen almost, and has a white dot. Quite a fish, and yes...more rare.

A few more differences.

The size of the nose. A black tang has a VERY long snout compaired to all other zebrasoma tangs.

A scopas is a light brown as a baby and develops black as it ages, a full grown scopas can be almost all black (but that nose is a dead giveaway that its not a black) Where a black tang will be all black from tiny to adult.
