Black & White Ocellaris Fry

Hello - I'm in need of some advice. I have 11 babies from my Black & White Ocellaris pair that will be 12 days old tomorrow. They are in a 3 gallon with an airstone and happily eating baby brine shrimp & rotifers. They originally were in a larger tank however when I got home yesterday the water was terribly cloudy and in fear of an algae bloom I moved them to the 3 gallon and did a 20% water change from the parent's tank.

Here is my dilemma- I'm going out of town tomorrow and have walked a friend through caring for them (siphoning, water changes, feeding, feeding the food etc) and want to know if I can add a HOT filter (sponge only) to help clear the water. They swim in and out of the bubbles so I think they are pretty strong but I'm afraid to add the filter and would love some advice.

This is my first clutch to make it this far so I'm hopeful that they will make it.

Thank you in advance for any words of wisdom :D

Thank you so much! I do have some pics but I'm still trying to figure out how to upload them. I will try to get them posted this evening.

Yup, sponge filter with a low flow will be good.

BTW, I wouldn't worry about algae blooms...it's food for rotifers and brine shrimp. However, if it's more of a white cloudy, that would be bacterial and a definite problem to avoid.

They are doing good! I went out of town for a week and the person who was caring for them did an amazing job. All survived, she counted 15. They will be 5 weeks old on Saturday and growing quickly.
Babies_5 Weeks.jpg (hopefully, I attached the picture correctly).

My husband took this picture with his phone this evening. I'm jealous. I've been trying to take pictures of them with every camera I have and none came out this good.

Parents laid more eggs but I think I have to let this clutch go as I'm going out of town again in a few weeks. I don't want to leave my housesitter with a 250g reef, 15 juvies, 2 week old newbies, three dogs, three cats and a 10g freshwater tank to tend to....that would just be cruel, lol.

That would be cruel. Toss the cats outside. :)
