Black worms to feed SH with?

Freed

It's what it's
Has anyone ever fed their SH black worms? Blood worms? Is mysis the only thing anyone has ever fed their SH?

Don't think it's a good idea since they are freshwater organisms, which will definitely lack in essential fatty acids needed by marine organisms. Furthermore some bloodworms may contain traces of pesticide.

Mysis seems to be the best proven long term food. Do you have a nutritional profile for the blackworms you have that we could compare?

Also I'm not sure if a seahorse would eat them.

From what I have learned, which may or may not be true, they are very high in protein. Don't know if that makes up for fatty acids or anything else though.

Has anyone ever fed their SH black worms?
The last time I bought pipes they came in with a marine blackworm. I threw them in my refugium and they are thriving.I don't know where you would find them. The pipes came from Live aquaria.

So they sent you a container of marine blackworms? They are multiplying in your fuge? Is this what you feed your pipes?

I've heard of those marine blackworms. Did you tell me about them at IMAC?
Yes..I might have.:) Freed..no,they sent me pipes and they were in the bag with them. Of course when you call LA you are just talking to an operator..but I asked her anyway what they were. I said they look like a blackworm...she came back to the phone and confirmed that's what they were, but would'nt say where they get them from. I have yet to ID them,or find a source. The reason I noticed them was, I ordered a couple bluestripes, and a couple dragonfaces with plans to keep one of each. {my friend got the other two}...so I was acclimating one of each in a catchcup and mixed the water together. I believe they were in the bag w/ the dragonface because the bluestripe went nuts in the cup catching and eating them. So I decided to throw some in my refugium to see if they would live, and they are all over now! I don't feed my pipes, they live on the fauna in the refugium. I also add Oceanpods every few months.... and make sure to feed the pods.

I feed blackworm to the other critters in my horse tanks and keep hoping they will try them but so far, no success. My mandarins, pipe fish, amphipods (yes, pod!), crabs, serpent stars, polyps, snails, shirmp ... you get the picture, ALL love them but the horses only look at them and don't snick.

I feed only live to my tanks so I keep looking for alternates I would really like to know what the marine worms were as black worms are fresh water and die within a minute of being exposed to saltwater.

Yeah, the freshwater blackworms all die in under 5 minutes and disintegrate. They'll live forever in 45' cold water though.

marine blackworms? anyone got a link for these guys...thought there was only freshwater variety available.

I'd like a link too if there is one. I'd rather throw a bunch in my sump and let them grow there and use them when I need them.
