Blastomusa Wellsi

I just picked up some blastomusa wellsi colonies today. I am placing it in a 24g AP and wanted to know about placement. I read online about it liking low flow, but I have found mixed results on lighting requirements. Can PC members please post pics of theirs showing it location in your tank. Thanks

I agree, low light and medium to low flow. Had mine high in the tank and almost lost it. It recoverd quickly once I moved it.

I used to have several blasto colonies in my 24G nanocube (6 or 7 at the most).

If you put them on the sandbed they will be fine without having to shade them.

My tank looked like a disaster area when I took this picture, noting like it does now.

You can see the red one and the mint green center one.

I got both of those at www.sharkysreef.com in Grayslake, a bit of a drive but worth it if your interested, they used to have the best blasto collection around, not sure if they still do.

One thing, once you place them on the sandbed and in a low flow area LEAVE THEM ALONE. I killed the mint green center colony because I saw someone mounted welsi's in their tank and tried it. They are very picky when it comes to changes in light and flow and tissue recession happens quick.

Also feed them some thawed mysis one a week. Turn off the pump and use a turkey baster and let the mysis fall onto the welsi and it will close up around it.
