Gonna follow this one along, looks very good for starters..As for being in fron of the door, I have objections. With you being in southern Cal. I would say the only concern would be the tank heating up some. But I'm sure you have that taken care of already. A question if I may, how tall is the metal stand?

1 HP chiller in the garage. Keeps it cool, but honestly hardly ever come on. The concrete in that garage keeps everything pretty cool. We are getting the sliding doors tinted though for good measure. The stand is 33 inches tall. Perfect height for looking at the tank at eye level

Dammit Marde, why oh why did I have to sell you that efflo...:(

It has grown since I got it from you. It has been a bullet proof addition. Fun to photograph since it has a lot of interesting textures, colors, and shape.

This is a 30 gallon hex plumbed into my 500 gallon tank system. I have a 400 watt MH bulb over it. PLEASE HELP ME decide what to put in it?!!!!!

Another crappy pic ! However, just a typical thursday morning. Reading the paper, listening to my ipod, loooking at the reef

That stand and canopy is amazing. I wish I could see that in person.

Looks fantastic! everything is growing in so well, congrats!

That 30 hex is cool, I'd like to see one species of coral grown out in there...juts one large colony like a Staghorn or giant Cap!

This is such a cool shot:

...and I'm not even a big trigger fan!

I just bumped into this thread. The tank looks amazing, great work.

The only thing I can't figure out is why you would put it by the door? I know you stated for water changes and everyone else complaining about temp fluctuations.

But aren't you worried about blocking a door in case of fire?

I've had a friend, here in Manhattan, have his tank cracked because of negligent firefighters. No fire, just a little clumsy.

My house still has a double door front door , a sliding glass door for the back yard and a third door that goes into the garage. The door the aquarium sits in is to the side of my house and has no real function to it. You can still get to the side from the garage or back door.
Its been a few months now that the tank has been up and of the "three places" in my house that we have had reef tanks, this spot is by far the best !
