bleached carpet

i am wondering what i should do this carpet has been in my tank for 2 days

i fed him mysis shrimp

lights are on for 8 hours with 6 hours of W&B

I have AI sol whites at 20% max hanging 4 inches above water.

i have another thread in reef disicussion but i was told i should post on here as well

IMHO/E, there's no reason to reduce your lighting for this anemone. It's bleached so it's not going to be damaged by lighting. These are very shallow water anemones. Some exposed, or trapped in tide pools, at low tide. I seriously doubt your lights are stronger than the sun near the equator. The anemone probably bleached, in part, because of a lack of lighting. I'd crank the lights back up to normal, keep feeding it, and give it some good strong flow. Don't blast it though. Something like what you saw in my video, or maybe a little stronger.

can you post a bigger picture? is it a gigantea? even though it looks like it needs some TLC, the color looks to be very pretty!

also, some info on your tank setup would be useful--how long it's been set up for, the lights you're using, how big it is, etc.

be on the lookout for the dreaded inflating/deflating cycles--a very bad sign. but if it's inflated like that, looks like you're off to a good start so far.

Tank has been cycled for about 2 months i have acans for a week and are doing great and has not lost any color

i also have some polyps that are starting to spread.

i have led AI sol whites

i habe 2 mp 10s and my tank is 40G

the Carpet is about id say 6 inches in diameter

only time it closes a little is when i feed it other then that its pretty open and waves around in the water some but seems to be held to the rock well

How often should i feed it and all i have for now its the shrimp mysis untill saturday i can get something differnent.

Any other question please ask cause i want to get this carpet healthy

but if i can help decride what i see is that the tips of the tentacles are purple the other half seems more towards the white side.

Sounds like a very young tank for keeping a anemon. Just make you keep your tank good and stable so it has the best chance that it can.

Looked like a bleached purple gigantea.
1.023 is too low. You need to bring this up to 1.027 range

Tank is way too young. That being said, I would assume if you feed it every day or other day (raw shrimp, mysis) and give it plenty of light, strong but chaotic flow, and stable water params, imo I would say 4-6 months you should start seeing the zoox (brown coloring) really start to repopulate in it's tissues. The purple color will get more intense over time. If it eats, then that's a very very good sign. Good luck.

what i did was provide normal lighting with my AIs. Feed a little but dont overdo it on that either. i would say 1x or 2x per week is plenty. then give it time. you can see in my thread that i had very good noticeable progress by the 1 month mark.

Stability and good water quality are going to be important as well. If you have that and decent lighting the best thing you can do is nothing. just give it time and dont mess with it too much.

When you see your anemone is turning more brown, that's a good sign.
It'll recover the zooxanthella and then brighten up the colors on the edges. Most giganteas are brown in the center.

That looks pretty much like one in my 40g that im taking care of. It's going to be a few months berfore they recover most likely as they are both pretty badly bleached. I would feed it very small amounts every day or other day, mine is recovering it's stickiness too, as it had none for a few days when I got it. Good luck.

i noticed to bald spots like where the tentacles should be.

yeah, I would like to know too what the bald spots mean, because when I've attempted giganteas in the past, this happened to me too--was never a good sign IME bc they ended up dying soon after

it doesn't make sense, right? bc yours is eating, so you can't say that it's starving and consuming its own tentacles ...

Gigantea naturally has void areas near the mouth. If the bald spots are closer to the edge, and seem random in placement, its probably old damage from a predator. Like a butterfly fish. In either case, it shouldn't effect the anemones survival.
