Bleached or Dyed?

And this is why I've gotten every other nem from AquaSD. Lesson learned!

Totally cute. I want the purple one.

Well, not here to bash anyone, but even our local high end LFS that you and I shop have sold me nems not of their true color or properly labeled.
As I mentioned before, even the so called experts may not be a master at IDing every animal that comes through their store.
I have been dissapointed too even through certain quality LFS in the not too distant past.

True, and nems are tricky. The difference between a gig and a Haddoni seems to be a bone of contention at several LFS's around here, lol. That being said, it has to at least bear a resemblance to what's being represented!!

OK, time to make some lemonade. It's growing on me. Looks like it could have some purple in the tentacles. Or not. We'll see.

aww that's too bad. It's a really beautiful nem but then again perception is everything. I've been burned a few times on acans that were massively photoshopped and you just have to live and learn. I got a little nervous when you said extreme corals because I have seen other posts where people had similar problems. Good luck with it and I hope it turns out healthy.

Yeah, I'm not sending it back. The $150 isn't worth the death of the nem. It can cuddle with my red and the snowflakes, and maybe Chase Visa will see it my way.

Brian (Drainbamage to you Dave) said that this isn't uncommon for this vendor. I was like, thanks Bri, where were you when I texted this pic to Will before buying yesterday?? Lol

Good for you, man.
I wish more people had your attitude.

With that said, this jackass needs to get his eyes, camera and ethics checked. Colors will vary from pictures, but it is obvious what is going on in this case.

Woogiekids....in the very least, EC should give you a partial refund under the circumstances...
and good for you regarding keeping the best interests of the nem in perspective, especially since it looks so happy right now in your pix :)

I wish you the happiest and healtiest of Holidays :celeb2::celeb1:

Here's the thing. We KNOW they didn't pay much (wholesale) for a green haddoni. They should be willing to issue at least a partial refund. I'd be surprised if they paid $30 wholesale for it.

It is a beautiful nem too bad it is not what you were expecting. Did you post this in the vendor experiences section or their sponsor forum section? You beat me to buying this nem by only a few minutes and that is where I would have posted if this happened to me and they were unwilling to stand behind their business. I just signed up with them and was getting ready to make a big purchase till I saw this. I do not want to be treated or misled like this. Please keep us posted on how the vendor communicates with you and what their final decision is.

Skinpuppi, I am going to give him a chance to make this right before I blast him the feedback/sponsor section. If he doesn't (which I have a feeling he won't), I'll go that direction. I always just believe the best in people, but my husband reminds me that I'm a bit naive in that respect, lol.

My response I just sent:

"I thought on it, and I am just not willing to risk the death of the nem by shipping it back, given that it was just shipped (during winter as well), and I am not an experienced shipper. I would appreciate some sort of reimbursement at this point. I understand that an anemone will look a bit different under different lights. I am an experienced reefer especially with nems. BUT, the mouth isn’t going to completely change color and the color of the tentacles is so drastically different I don’t feel comfortable accepting that theory in it’s totality."

On the up side, the nem looks great this morning!

Good on you. I fully agree that they deserve a chance to correct their wrong doing. Even with adjusting an LED light spectrum they can't make it pure yellow like they did. And even if it is the lighting they manipulated to MAKE it look like they did, they should annotate the color spectrum they are using to get the effect. They are very misleading and to me that is an unacceptable business practice.

If you include a color rendition card in your photos you don't HAVE to worry about color spectrum. After you take the picture you adjust the color pallet so that it matches the KNOWN VALUES of the color card. No room for guesswork - DONE.

Nice to see you've given your clowns some festive holiday colored accomodations :D

Lol Peter, I didn't even think about that!

The EC owner asked me to give him a call to discuss resolution, so I'll call him after work today.

Not to wander into the deep end here, but I don't think it's naive to give the world a chance to turn out ok. It's better than walking around convinced everyone's out to cheat you (not that those are the only two options) or going postal when someone disappoints. It's more about how you want to spend your time on the planet.

Congrats on your new Haddoni. I also think you did the right thing and should be applauded for that.

Hopefully EC steps up and does the honorable thing as well.

Merry Christmas!

Either that, or we COULD use a color rendition card for all our photos so people knew the EXACT colors of the animal they would be receiving.... ah, who are we kidding. Honesty is bad for profits!

I told my brother about this thread (he's a designer), and his reply was this

"So now what we do is place a color photo card (kind of like a pantone color chart card) next to the thing we are selling. That way the color swatch can't lie. And if your monitor is off (which is always an excuse), you can color-correct. I'm surprised you guys don't do this considering how important slight color details are from one coral to the next. Or have sellers done this already?"
