Bleaching anemones

Hello,

I have an Innovative Marine 60 with Reef Breeders Photon V2 Leds. I am running a MaxSpect Gyre XF330 in Gyre mode. I had a group of 7 Black Widows that I added. Several have bleached and their tentacles shrank to nubs. I am not sure what is going on. They remain attached to the live rock. The ones that look the worst are on the same rock. I am not sure if its light or flow. Has any one experience this before?

Thanks

These issues with anemones almost always come down to one of the following:

Age of tank?
Alkalinity?
PH?
Nitrates?
Phosphates?
Salinity?

If you want to post the answers we might be able to help you find the problem.

In addition to the factors bradleym mentioned, high temperature or rapid temp changes can also cause bleaching and tentacle shrinkage.

phender: glad you mentioned that..I hear different opinions on what the ideal temp is for anemone's..what do you think ? I have 4 gigs and a couple malu's right now..

I try to keep my tanks between 77 and 80 degrees F.
I have had friends have bleaching and short tentacles when their temps rose above 82 for any length of time.
