Hey all -
I have a few BTA's in my office nano and have had them since around the middle of January. My rose is bleaching while my other 3 green BTA's aren't. The rose isn't moving around or anything, is still very sticky and eats like a horse whenever it's offered anything.
The tank is a 25 gallon cube, has an Aquaclear HOB filter that was run as a fuge for a while, now I just run it for a little extra water movement. I have a Tunze 9002 skimmer in there and it does an OK job I guess considering what it is. Lighting is a single 150 watt Phoenix. I don't dose anything, I just do waterchanges using Reef Crystals. Parameters are fine, Salinity is 35 ppt, temp is stable at 79º - it may hit 80º on an off day but it's very rare.
There's a couple things that I have concerns with though:
1.) I moved my lighting down maybe a month ago - I actually think this may be the issue, I may need to move it back up - but I only moved it down maybe 6". The fixture itself is about a foot from the top of the water.
2.) I have a LOT of macro in the display - a few different types of caulerpa. I prune it regularly to keep it from going sexual. I'm wondering if the macro and combination of the skimmer is stripping the nutrients?? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I guess it's possible. Everything else in the tank is doing very well and growing.
3.) I do feed the nems every other day, but I feed them spectrum pellets since they're (the nems) are pretty small.
This pic was taken last night after feeding the nems, that's why the rose is kind of balled up. The other 2 larger of the green BTA's are by the clam toward the bottom and the smallest of the green BTA's is up toward the top in the center, surrounded by the macro.
SPS, LPS and other softies are in great shape...
Any thoughts?
