Bloated Goby

My watchman goby's sides have become bloated rather suddenly. I fear that it is either some kind of gut impaction or dropsy. He's very lethargic and did not eat last night.

Should I try to treat him at this point? I've heard epsom salts for impaction could help but not sure. What antibiotic is best for treating dropsy?

It seems like most stories like this online the fish doesn't make it. I've considered euthanasia as well. What's the least painful way for the fish if I go this route?

Thanks all for your help.

Take a green pea (same kind you & I eat). Boil it, peel it, try feeding the insides to the goby (he may or may not eat it). There is something about a pea (maybe the fiber) that serves as a laxative and will sometimes clear intestinal obstructions. Also, some f/w people use it to fix swim bladder disease in goldfish.

Sounds crazy, I know; but at this point what do you have to lose?
