Bought a nice blond naso from a sponsor online he has been in the tank for 24 hours. The problem i have is that he won't eat. I have tried brine shrimp, pellets and flakes also marine algae sheets nothing? I don't want to lose this fish any suggestions????

Sometimes these fish will not acclimate. Not often but on occasion. Could also be something wrong. You don't mention anything about your water parameters, temp, size how the tank is decorated-large open spaces or a lot of decor such as LR, etc. What size is the fish also?

250 gal dd with 7 tangs and 3 wrasses water parameter is fine SPS dominate tank. right now he is hiding in the rocks. Fish was ordered as a small but appears to be a about 4 inches.

Cal 480
temp 78.7
alk 9,0

It took my naso about a 2-3 weeks to start eating. It got really skinny during that time but did come around. It might take some time for the tang to adjust and start eating. Give it a few days. Try tying down the nori to some live rock in your tank if you haven't tried it already.

If you had qt'd him, you would be better prepared to get him eating. The fish would be isolated, and given a chance to eat without competition. QT'ing is as much getting a fish adjusted to aquarium life and your home as it is watching it for diseases and parasites. To me anyway.

Points given above solid advise. Is his belly pinched at all? Also with seven other tangs in the tank it could be there is some rivalry going on/chasing. It is not normal for Naso's to hide in rock work as they are open water fish. If the belly is pinched it was either starved during transit or may have worms. Did you also ask the LFS to feed before your purchased. Not sure what you paid but any fish that is difficult or expensive I always ask them to feed before I buy. Here in my area Blonde Nasos that size run around $90.00 so I want to be sure it is eating before I buy and if the belly is pinched won't touch with a ten foot pole.

Now the cat's outta the barn, he may take a few days to eat. My most recent tang added is an adult chocalate mimic and he took about 4 days before eating.

QT tank does help but is not the save all, end all. I think QT'ing often stresses certain fish a lot more.

sounds like you bypass'd the QT phase. maybe try using an acclimation box. the fish is isolated in one area and food is right in its face. thats working well for my blueface angelfish. also try mysis shrimp.

Update, check on it this morning and he was dead. i called the online store and they are shipping out another, i had the 14 day guarantee. Any idea where i can get a acclimation box?

I am a believer in qt tank. Once got a purple tang 1 week after getting him it showed (velvet) Thank God he was in the qt

i would at least get the 12x6x6 box. that had really help my blueface adapt to eating when hes isolated in one little area and food is floating in his face.

it also helps other fish adapting to newcomers too.
