Blood Red Fire Shrimp

Ok so I love the look and supposed services they can provide which is beneficial for the tank ecosystem. My LFS recently has got some in, but the catch is they are $180 each! (I live in Australia and they are hard to get a hold of here). I did however get a gift voucher for $200 for Christmas [emoji16]. But am wondering if it's worth it or I just spend the money on various other things that I want into the near future.

I'm just looking at a simple community tank (I've got two chromis now and will get a bi-colour Blenny, a pair of ocellaris/percula clowns and maybe a lot later down the track a pair of banggai Cardinals) it's roughly 165-175 litres (45ish gallons) of water 4ftx1ftx1.5ft (ish)

If it was me I rather buy all that I need or want for the aquarium. You can always buy cleaner shrimps that will do the same job in your system. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah it's hard because they are so gorgeous! Maybe I'll get a red line or something. I wish they weren't so expensive!

If you want something that will spend most of its time hidden in the rocks go for it. I’d find something better.

They are pretty, but $180? Not a chance

I agree.

25$-40$ yes. They are really cool. At $180...no way.
Everywhere I've seen here is quite expensive and I'm not going to trust any shipping because living in one of the most isolated cities in the world (Perth) and it's expensive to collect them around Australia

I'd say that's way expensive...but again understand your situation. People pay hundreds of dollars for all sorts of things in this hobby. So if it's worth it to you...then do it!

I have one that is beautiful but have only caught a quick glimpse of him a few times in 3 weeks since I got him. Glad I only paid $35 for him.

As everybody else has stated they hide a ton. I have a blood red and a skunk and the skunk is out much more and way more personable. If you had to pick one definitely go with the skunk

The thing is I looked up prices for them as they are my second choice, and they are just about the same price! So far it won't be for a while until I properly consider one!
