blotched anthias question???

hello everybody, wondering about the blotched anthias & aquarium temperature. I've read they like cooler temps but what would be the highest temperature one could run with one of these jewels? one article said 78 degrees is good but what would happen if tank stayed at 80 degrees... long term would this be a problem? THANKS!

I know a few people that have them, they seem like they lose their spots in warmer tanks. I always wanted a pair, but I hate how they look in an aquarium after 6 months and they turn a pale yellow with no spots.

I kept mine for month and months around 80-81. One day, while on vacation of course, the tank got up to 90 and that was way too much for it obviously.

wow, good information! I didn't think about the color loss. very expensive to end up with a drabby fish. the color I was shooting for was more pink....I seen one in a photo that looked more pink & was wondering if they get more pink with age or size? speaking of size, will they reach the 6" as advertised?
running a tank at 75 degrees, would they be more likely to keep there color?

We kept our trio for years at 76*F - 77*F and they were gorgeous fish. The tank was very stable in terms of temp as it was chilled.

Sizewise, our male grew to about 4" TL, but we got them pretty small (1.5" TL). Once established, we kept them in our "small things with stings" setup with dwarf lionfish, waspfish, and small scorpionfish. They actually learned to eat from a feeding stick!

I've had mine for about 3 years. Temperature at 80.00. Kept his spots and coloration without color loss. He looks great!
