Blowing Snow

My 2 return nozzles on my RR are basically blowing snow. It was just happening about twice a minute but now it is just constant!
Roy looked at it last night and just said that maybe over time that will go away. I just was curious if there was any reason for the increase??? I have a mag7 in my sump that is at the bottom. I used to have lower water but I've increased my water level but I did that over a week ago and this just started today. The return tube does not have any kinks and is clean??? I'm confused. It looks terrible. Does/did anyone else have this problem?

Does the height of the adjustable standpipe have anything to do with this?

i have a mag 9 and it isnt even close to being powerful!

it should go away in a few days..... you will probably need more power heads too, FLOW is the keel word for healthy fish, inverts, corals, and a healthy tank without pesky alages and bad stuf.

FLOW FLOW

i have liek 6000 of flow in my 75 RR only 900 of that is from the return.

hmmmm... put a ball valve on the retun and turn it down a little mabe... but i cannot see whey it is doing that with a mag 7

try to disperse the flow more before it hits the sand bed

Something I was thinking about. Are there holes drilled to decrease the backflow in case of a power outage? If so maybe those holes are making a mini venturi effect.

Anyone else thinking about this, he has 2 lockline returns. The sump seems very calm in the return area.

It sound like very fine bubble like Doc said I would check your plumbing for any possible location that air might enter the return line.

There is 1 hole in the PVC right before the lockline screws on. Although, looking at it, I can't tell if there seems to be any leaking where that screws to the lockline. I can't really pull that pvc pipe up can I? Wouldn't it all drain into the sump with none returning?Would a pic of that help?

Wish I had looked over in that overflow. I have no idea what you're talking about so if you can get a good pic that would help.

The syphon breaking hole in the return line should be under water about 1/2 to 1" below the surface, it is very possible that it acts like a ventury. For a test try plugging it temporarely, (Use electrical tape) if the issue goes away you may need to plug it permanently and drill a new one at a lower level. If need to be, either replace the fitting or try epoxi putty to plug it.
