Blue carpet anemone ?HELP?

finnally got my blue carpet on sat, had feelers out all over , was wonderful 1st night , by morning it was flat and its mouth looked "funny" and very wide , decided to watch it and see .since he may have just been empting out... ... anyway,, he has a tear in his side about 1+1/2" ,,, was puffy and normal while all lighting was on , but over night again he shrunk and now has white debre sluffing off side and out of mouth ????


i have a green in the same tank for over a year doing great and about 14" hosting a pair of maroons ,,
all prams are good ,

any ideas...should i move him to the refugium or qt tank ???

I'm no expert, but I've been asking alot of questions here lately myself, and what you've described; deflation, mouth open (gaping), tissue melting away, and a tear in the foot/side, is all very bad news. I'm sorry, but its most likely that the blue carpet is dieing. I would remove it from the tank right away before it pollutes the rest of your tank.
Its likely it was dieing before you bought it.

Sounds like its dying*. I would give it a day and if it recovers than keep a sharp eye on it. If it is still declining, take it out before it gives your tank an ammonia spike.

it seems to be splitting now , one circle lying on top of the other ,mouth section in the middle and what appears to be a definate division on the foot , , the top portion seems tottally healed (foot) but if i lift it the mouth is still shedding and the bottom of that side is also intact ,,, wish i had a digtal to take a pic , he/she is a beautiful turquoise color

sorry no camera , so bummed i cant film it ,, i really think it must be dying but its just to weird with the 2 disc's ?? ,,,, i moved it to my 30 gal qt tank ,all prams match my 125 ,so i can watch and see with out hurting anything ( except some calurpa that ive been growing in there )

If anything it would have been wise to keep it in the 125 since it has more stability in that tank.

A 30g is not too bad. Plus I wouldnt want to risk death in my established tank due to a sick/dying anemone if it were to be.

It is most likely in injury. I know Phender has a few pics he can hopefully post of an injured anemone.

thank god i moved it it totally melted in my 30 over night , she is sadly dead,, found out the other 2 ( green) that came into the store with it met the same fate,,,,sigh... im so bummed it was beautiful......
the reason i took it out was that i was afraid it would crash the tank, i have a green carpet in there and hes great so i didnt want to loose it too. ,

i know,,,,i shouldnt have 2 in the tank..... i have a weird set up and have 2 sets of marroonsclowns and blk percs in there , getting on just fine as long as the percs dont try to move in to thier neighborhood,

anyway, the percs bubble tip took a cruse thru a power head ,(yes i removed it ) and they need another home ,, no i dont know what to do ,,, most anemones are so small that they sell, my percs would kill them with kindness, thought this was a good solution since the green carpet has been doing so well...

now im back to square 1 ,, so sad to see the percs watching the green but not being aloud to visit, lol,




as for the 30 gallon , it use to be a qt tank but i got a 19 and divided it into 3 sections i use for that now , the thirty started as an experment and has been running for about a year , and is equal in comparison to my 125 except for the amount of water , and only has compacts on it .even has a 3 " sand bed . rock , tons of calurpa growing in it and some inverts to keep it clean

Good save man. The other 2 carpets that died at the LFS was in indication these did not come in healthy.

Good call that you moved it out of you main display. It must have happened so fast.

it didnt look too bad in the main tank but i noticed his mouth was a lot worse, ,,, if i find another itll go in the thirty to begin with ,

heading to new jersey this weekend ( near camden)

anyone know of a good store near there ??

we're going to hit a place in lancaster on the way home monday ,called "that fish place". anyone been there , weve orderd dry goods over the web from them ,prices are pretty good on bulbs and stuff, but dont know what thier "live " looks like

and hey its only 2 hours out of our way .lol.
