Blue Gig in 300g Tank Update

Thanks Scott,

It's been a long time we don't talk.
When will you return to this hobby? I know you can get away from this.
Remember, you always can stop by and take anything from my tank.
It has been too long Khanh and you are still too generous :)

I am at that "commission a tank builder" or "buy off the shelf and modify" stage.

It looks like you are T5's, guess you don't need any of the zillions of Halides I have in boxes :D

As knowledgeable as you are about what you need, I would commission a tank. I love my external overflow box and the deep dimension of my 320.
I love my LED. The electricity bill does not bite me every month anymore. Don't need to have fans or chiller. Good LED is not cheap however.

Minh, Your experience and well found opinions speak for themselves and I appreciate you sharing both. As you know, patience wins and does lean toward having a custom build.

Maybe Khanh will let me hang out and feed his fish a few times to take the edge off the wait :D

Scott, you are welcome anytime.

First off amazing! We have a 300 that we are going bare bottom with and spacing chalices, monti, and a few other on bottom to encrust. Your tank gives me hope! I was told I could not have a few carpet in a barebottom but yours is obviously happy. Any pointers to share is greatly appreciated. It looks like you built him a rock mound for his foot? As far as flow and spacing is he front and center? My tank is 10 ft w x2 x2 and it's still early enough I could make a spot for a future carpet. Fish might hate me for moving rocks but they'll get over it.

Haddoni carpets require sand. Gigantea carpets do not. Two different species that have different requirements

Thanks Island Son.
What kind of carpets that you want to keep?
To my experience,
Haddoni needs sand, and Gigantea needs rock.
Haddoni prefers slow current, Gig likes medium waves.
They both require strong light.
They both are big. Minimum Space requirement is 15".
If they touch corals, corals will die.
Hope this help.

If I'm looking at the timeline right, I think that is the gig you got from me back in 2012, I'm glad to see it is thriving in your care.
