I have had good luck with hawkins. I did not dip because I heard they can be sensitive to dipping. I keep it low in my 180 under 250 watt reeflux. Never moved it. It has tripled in size in the year that I have had it. The newer growth on it is blue and the older growth is more of a blueish green. I thought of moving higher to try to get it bluer, but with the way it is growing, I left it be. Mine is not too temp sensitive. My tank temp bounces around between 78-84 on hot summer days and in the cooler months from 77-81. Corals show no ill effects. I am thinking it is some other variable causing rtning. Possibly alk was way different than the tank it came from, or salinity, etc.
And in reference to the O.P., since it is a sensitive coral, once it starts sloughing tissue, it most likely will not survive
