Blue jaw trigger, to or not to?

I want to know what the success rate is for these triggers, i plan on getting the smallest male i can find, he will be going into a 90g, with 2 cleaner shrimp, and one blood shrimp, all the shrimp are well established. I have read that they won't mess with well established shrimp, but also every fish has its own personality. If you have one of these guys, let me know your story and if your shrimp became food.

I have had good success with them.

Some have had them eat small fish, but that is the exception to the rule for the most part.

In order to get a for-sure male, it might have to be 3-4 inches. They grow slow, but they won't be able to live their entire lives in the 90G.

I was considering one for my 90 gal. too. I decided not to go that route because it would get too big for my tank. They are supposed to be one of the more reef safe of the Triggers.

try to get the hawaiian bluejaw. they are much nicer. the ones that come in from Indo (bali etc) are also drab looking. the blue is never bright and the yellow on the fins is always faded...
however finding a 3" male from Hawaii is very very very difficult... :)

I have a 5" male in my 90g reef, I don't have any shrimp. I have been tempted to buy some shrimp but am a little hesitant.

I have a mated pair and they are great additions. I've seen them in tanks with cleaner shrimp and no problems. I would only put one in a 90.

it crossed my mind to put a pair in the 90, but then i decided that would be a bad move, i think he will be either my last or second to last fish i add.

I wanted a male only cause I was worried about the size when they get older. But once I saw the pair together I couldn't split them up. I've seen them full grown and they do get big, when they get like that I'll figure out what to do then, until then I'll just enjoy.

I had one eat a cleaner shrimp that was already established in my 180g. It's an uncommon behavior, but you should just be aware that it can happen.
