Hello, I have a blue linckia starfish and noticed it hasn't moved in about 2 days so I decided to investigate. Anyway, I turned him over and noticed a large amount of brown strings in the center of him. Do you think he is dead? Any sure ways to know?
Did he move when you touched him if he did not he is most likely dead these can be difficult stars to keep allot depend on how they were caught and transported and acclimated
I have an Orange Linkia Starfish, & I acclimated him for 3 hours before putting him into my tank, I used the dripped method and that seemed to work best for me. Here is a picture of my Starfish
But like the person said above, How long did you acclimate, because these starfish, well any starfish have a hard time adjusting to any change in ph or salinty, so it is best to aclimate alittle longer tham usaly...
I suspect it's dead. If it doesn't turn itself back over, or it smells rotten, remove it. Those starfish don't last long in our tanks in most cases, anyway.
I suspect there was most likely a problem before you even got the starfish, which is usually the case. They are often too far gone by the time you get it home.
Men, sorry to hear that, try to find for a very healthy specimen, let it in the LFS dring a week or more if it survives then perhaps it will have a small chance to trive.
