Blue Line Triggers

My favorite triggers are the golden heart, queen, clown, niger, assasi, and blue line.
Now, my question is-- just how ferocious are blue line triggers? If you raise 'em from a small size, are they prone be nice? Or Jekyl/Hyde fish? Any stories? How big of a tank do you need for one? If I could put one in a 180 (which I highly doubt), would I be able to put it in with a gold heart trigger, dogface puffer, indian trigger, and an aggressive wrasse? Or would it kill everything? Any info would be highly appreciated, thanks!!:celeb1:

Well,

Bluelines are imo one of the toughest/most aggressive triggers. They are always ticking timebombs. I would only pick a beast of a damsel or two as a tankmate. I have a Jewel with my Titan and its a good mix.

Tank size...you maye be able to get away with a 180 but I am sure a 240 would be better. If you kept the Blueline solo (or with a damsel or two) and put the majority of your live rock in the sump it will give him more swimming room. I am also not sure of their growth rate so a 180 might be ok as my Titan seems to grow about half an inch a year I'd guess.

Figured, haha. Better safe than sorry. They're gorgeous though, it's a shame they're so mean!:worried:

I had some trouble with mine when he was smaller, but there are no issues at all, now. I started them all off very small, though. The SOB Clown Tang was much more aggressive.

I believe that some fish, like the Blueline, should not be the alpha fish in the tank. The Goldheart and Emperor in my tank are both larger fish, and help keep the peace.

Also, keeping them well fed is very, very important.

These fish are currently in a 125, being upgraded to a 300 DD next month: Goldheart, Blueline & Pinktail Triggers, Emperor & Blueface Angels, Falco Hawk. They all get along great.

I have an Aussie Harlequin Tusk in QT that will be added first to the new tank. Of all the fish, I'm most worried about problems with the Pinktail when adding a new tankmate, not the Blueline.

fuscus triggers can be brutal fish, esp when collected as large adults...I have always been lucky and never had a problem...though I always get specimins as small as possible...that can also be an issue as tiny trigs have such a high metabolism they need to eat like every hour or better yet, constantly feeding...my current fuscus is about 2 inches now...was insanely tiny when I got it...as tiny as baby trigs caqn be...I was feeding him around 8plus times a day...setting my alarm to get up every 2-3 hours to feed...I obviously kept him in a small acclimation box, so he could see and be seen...he is now out of the box and in the tank with my titan, smaller gh, queen trigs... sohal, some angels and a garibaldi....there is no aggression at all...though the Garibaldi can be a pita...the sohal is also small- he very well could be the problem in the future and may stay in the 250 with my clown trig and not go into the 1,000 gallon tank..
