Blue Spot Jawfish severly stressed

I raised my alk this morning, .25 dkh over a two hour period, (132ml of BRS soda ash / 240 gallons of water). I kept an eye on the ph, and it inceased by .12 over that period. Now, a couple of hours later, my BSJ, my favorite fish, is out of is burrow, laying on his side, and gasping. All other fish seem fine and are eating.
Are BSJ's sensitive to alk or ph swings? The adjustment was (I thought) minimal. I have more of an alk increase when I do a water change. I don't understand.
Is there anything I can do for him? He looks really bad, I think it may be too late.

How long have you had it? I don't personally own one, but if I recall my reading correctly...blue spots tend to die mysteriously.

He's been in there for a month or so.
So, about a half hour after posting, I went back to see how he was doing, and he was back in his burrow, looking at me like nothing ever happened! Threw some food in the tank, and he came out and started eating.
Most bizarre thing I think I've ever seen. Honestly, the way he looked, I thought he was a goner. And then to be sitting there fine a little while later. It's like he had a seizure or something. Crazy.

I also have a bsjf and he's doing great. Maybe yours just worked to hard digging and burrowing? They are always busy doing something! ;)

BSJ's have a tendency of dying mysteriously. There's numerous threads in here about their own little syndrome they have. Worth reading.

That may have been the case a while back. Their "mysterious" deaths were usually attributed to poor collecting methods and using cyanide. Since, things have improved and you don't hear about these deaths as much.

small alien...... just havin' a little fun!

I have a blue spot that has just up and vanished. He apeared to be healthy and large aprox. 4" He was the coolest fish in the system. I hope he is just a great hider
