Blue spotted jawfish

I want a blue spotted jawfish in my 48 gallon FOWLR. A few questions... How do you QT this fish?? How do you feed him? Please share success in keeping this fish for several years. Can he be kept with 2 percula clowns and a puffer fish?

One of my favorite fish with a great personality. I have had success keeping them for 1-2 years but for some reason they get some mysterious tail rotting disease and die quickly thereafter. They usually eat right up until death too. I have had this happen with all 5 that I have owned. Longest one lived for approximately 2 years.

Personally i think you are better off with a Pearly Jawfish. Much hardier. You also wont need a chiller

BSJ need cooler temperatures. All puffers need larger tanks.

@Reeferstace - all puffers need a larger tank? I have read that Toby puffers can do fine in 50 gallon tanks? Live aquaria also has a Toby puffer for a 50 gallon tank. They only get 4 inches. Other experiences?

That's why they need a fully covered tank

Mine is going on 18 months in my care. Looks great healthwise, but seems to be partially blind. I have to spot feed it every night. Tank temp is maintained around 76°F.
