Blue spotted rabbit fish eating my zoos

Well tonight I saw my rabbit fish eat a couple of my deep water zoos and some of me death malls. I thought it was my peppermint shrimp or my flame angle but it was not. Is this a common thing, it doesn't touch any of the other zoo colonies. I have covered them in hopes that he will loose the taste for them.

Anyone else have this problem

I've heard of this before from a few other members.

I personally had a rabbit fish start eating the polyps off of my sps corals before. My only solution was to catch him and make him a new home in the sump.

i don,t think it's my rabbitfish because it was happening before i got him, but i have a damsel that likes to nip at and eat bright colored smaller size zoas, small clove polyps, and pretty much any other really small softer coral. he also like to constantly brush up against my acans and make them keep closing up. i've personally watched him do all the above, and my zoas that are on the frag rack are fine. and i periodically find my rabbitfish resting up there... doesn't touch a thing. i think it just depends on the individual that you get.

like glen and his rabbitfish my damsel will go into the sump on the new setup. but for now i'm just starting a nano for just my zoas.

Mine began doing this too. All I can say is get him out or your zoos out. He has now developed a taste for them and trust me, it will take less than two days to clean out your entire zoo population if he decides he wants to. I guess its up to you which you like in your tank more.

yup. My foxface has done the same thing. He's a fast eater too. I can't seem to catch him and have relocated my zoas until I can get him out. He likes all the colorful ones and hasn't touched the jade button polyps.

I thought this wasn't that common but guess it is. I have isolate my Palys which it likes a lit but left the kryptonites and some others alone. Guess they taste bad. See how it goes hopefully in a couple of weeks he will forget about them. If not then the sump it is.

I am another victim of the blue spot rabbit, mine did some damage before I could catch him, he even destoyed the cover I made to protect the zoas

I have take this fish over and have the correct name for it. It is called a Orange spotted Rabbitfish and I can contest to the fact that this fish is a Zoa eating machine. He will eat more Zoas than hair algae any day of the week. Ever since last year when I picked this fish up I have left any Zoas out of the tank. Until two weeks ago is when I put in some test Zoas figuring since the fish has been away from them maybe it was winged off any temptations. Wrong. This fish's eating characteristics reminds me of a Emperor Angelfish.

I also found out this guy eats anemones if your not careful because I just saw him mutilate my Rose Bubble Tip Anemone. Pretty much eats anything is how I see it with this guy.

I hope u didn't get that from me... I sold it to someone who said it was going to a fish only tank. He was a cool looking fish but I liked my zoos better. Can't believe he attacked your anemone... Wow that's some appetite
