Blue Squamosa?

hi There

In recent months, I tried a couple clams in my 95g reef tank. I have one 6" Derasa and one 2-3" blue Maxima. They're both doing well.

I've always wanted a bright Blue Squamosa clam. Does anyone have experience w' them? Can you post a pic?

Also, anybody know where to find them? I looked on-line, and am coming up empty-handed.

Please let me know.

Sincerely,

Flamehawk

Yeah. There aren't many out there, and they're pricey.
Does anyone have a pic? They look nice.

Recently, I noticed 3-4 purple squamosas on eBay. They all bid up over $100. I wasn't ready for 'em at the time...

BEWARE! most of the ones I've had expirence with in recent years came loaded with pyramid snails. Get the potato brush out.
Also, most come from Viet Nam....I had one about wipe out my clam
collection with a virus. I lost 18clams before I stopped it.

Jay2,

Wow- is that true of all Squamosas?

I have a Derasa and Maxima. I wouldn't want them vulnerable to any parasites or snails. How can you spot 'pyramid snails' anyway?

Out of curiosity, can you share pics of your clams?

Thanks for the feedback.

Pyramid snails will be most prominent on the foot of the clam- or in and around the bysal opening. I've even heard of them hiding in the incurrent siphon.
