blue stripes are here!!

After 2 mo. my LFS finally got some Blue Stripe clownfish in for me.
I purchased 2(recieved 5, but 3 didn't look too well) and they are safely in their quarantine tank. I have heard these fish have a high mortality rate, is this only for new fish, are they as hardy as their CLark's cousins after they acclimate? Do they breed like Clark's clowns? I have successfully bred maroon's, clark's and percs would these be any more difficult?

Do a search here for blue stripe clowns (A. chrysopterus.) They can take a turn for the worse in 24 hours.

Ditto, be ready for the onslaught of disease. I would Formalin dip them now, not tomorrow not next week but NOW! its better to be safe than sorry. Hope it works out for you.

well unfortunately the pair isnot looking good, they are hanging near the surface and breathing very heavy. Treated with copper and methalin blue. I havnt given up, but I wont hold my breath on this one.

Formalin, quick. make sure to aerate the dip water first

I've had what can probably be called a blue stripe tomato for over 2 years, infact I didn't realize it was blue stripped until someone mentioned blue stripes and I recalled "hey my tomato has a bluish tinge in its stripe..." and low and behold.. BLUE STRIPE!

I administered a dip last night. Found one dead this morning, the other one is still breathing hard, but is not gulping air at the top like it was. Keeping fingers crossed

I would have skipped the dip on them and just treated the tank with formalin. If you do go that route you will need to add airstones as formalin strips oxygen from the water.

Sorry about your clowns.I have some that i think might be clarkkis but they change there stripes t blue evry few weeks for about a day.Wy do you think this happens.
