Blue tang keeps spitting out food?

I just got a blue tang yesterday morning and it was hiding behind the rocks for the day and surprisingly started swimming around by the night time and have been swimming around since. Hes been out swimming all day today. I think its a good thing ?

However, whenever i try to feed my tank... he chases after food like crazy but then spits them out. I know hes still acclimating since its only been 1 day .. however, if he has the appetite to eat... what could be causing him to spit the food back out? I tried to feed mysis shrimp, formula 2, flakes, pellets, krills.. which he spits out . He wouldnt touch seaweed clip but i tried adding garlic extreme and hes been pecking at it.

Besides acclimating... is there a reason why its common for them to xhase after the food and spit it out? What kind of food does tangs love? Any advice?

Once acclimitized to the tank, the blue tang eats a variety of foods, and as a grazer, eats and poops a lot.
All those things you tried including brine shrimp he/she will eat.

They spit when...
-it not as expected
-it's texture is not to their liking
-it requires softening....but in this case they should finally take it.

What was it being fed at the LFS?

I get the feeling you did not QT him.....watch him carefully.....very prone to Ick....

Although Tangs are herbivores, they will eat a variety of food, but need a lot of algae. I feed mine (3) 1 large Romaine leaf/day and Nori in a clip. (1/2 sheet)

Try feeding some spiralina mixed with mysis, it helps supplement their herbivore diet and it may like it better.
