Blue Tang=Not doing well, all at once!

Ok, generally i understand all the strange things taht happen to fish, but this one has me baffled. I have a 125g tank with an 80g fuge sump. My chemistry is amm, trates, trites, phos, all undetectable. My pH is 8.2, temp 78, ca 430, mag 1200.........no ick or detectable disease. Now my tang is a super friendly fish as he loves to swim around and wait to be fed, he's always out in the open and all of a sudden he's jammed in rocks and not eating. He's a complete pig and eats formula 1, 2, brime, mysis, angel formula, anything and everything. He's in with a valentini puffer tahts 2" which is very docile, a rock beauty that's 4" taht could care less about anything but food, a lawnmower blenny and a cleaner wrasse and cleaner shrimp. Corals are one monti, tons of zoas, gsp, frogspawn, xenia, thats pretty much it. No crabs, one cleaner shrimp, some snails. A sea cucumber, and i've been yanking out the large fireworms here lately but there's not many left. So what could be wrong. He's acting very skiddish and i m guessing he's going to die. I haven't lost but one fish in the last two years? Thanks!

Luke

it's all that Remora bashing you've done, the reef gods are ticked about it.

might wanna check O2 levels, IME tangs are the first to show signs of low O2. had any bacteria blooms/clouded water lately?

Jet, the only thing i've done lately is you nailed it on the head. I raised my calc with randy far 2 part from 300-430.....but took two weeks to do so. My water is normally pristine but now i can't fully see from end to end so clear. I have over 4000gph moving in my tank so i'm not worried about O2. No bacteria blooms, just the calc thing. You think that will stress him enough to die? Thanks man. I hear ya bout the remora.......but junk is junk! lol

the Ca didn't cause it to get cloudy and stay that way for any significant amount of time, especially weeks, I'm just guessing but your cloudiness is bacteria.

on the Remora, i need an extra one for my 55, you got one you ain't gonna use :)

Oops, got the PM after i posted the above, so which was it the sugar or vodka?

No sugar, no vodka, no bac bloom..........just a fish n distress. Why say a water change when the water is perfect?

Jet, got tons of remora's for ya. The UPS man is just waiting to pay me for them ; ) I would suggest about 7-10 to skim a 55g. Better use a mag 7 with all of them to keep your trates below 100. lol

YGPM.......

if the tank is still clouded there's something screwy going on and a water change is allot cheaper then a dead fish.

The water is dang near pristine in appearance. I promise you the chemistry is perfect. I think time will tell.

move her to the 75g QT tank and see if she improves. there are countless things that could be in the system causing problems that we don't and can't test for.

Well, he didn't make it............Dangit! Favorite fish is gone, and my first loss in nearly 2yrs.

I really gave him a look over as soon as he was gone and he didn't show any signs of probs, no parasited, no hll, strange...

The only thing i can think of is right when he freaked out, we had a power outage for 2.5hrs that day.....hmm, the water dropped in temp around 4degreez, wonder if that stressed him out or what? I guess i should just not worry.
