Blue Velvet Nudibranch

7 out of 8 people who replied to this thread have suggested that something other than the nudibranch would be best. I don't think it sounds like a good plan, but you knew that already. Good luck!

Who's to say 7 out of the 8 people have experience with blue velvet nudibranchs?

Like I said, I'd rather put something in the tank that I'm sure will take care of my flatworms than trying a bunch of different fish (wrasses) out, which have no guarantee of having a taste for the flatworms. Getting a single fish out of a 210g tank is not an easy task. Please don't go thinking I haven't considered fish. If I was interested in getting a wrasse, there would be a different title to this thread.

Any other input on the blue velvet nudbranchs?

He's made up his mind that he's going to get a velvet nudibranch. No amount of common sense will dissuade him. Wasted, time, life, and $. Now please, let's move on.

My two cents

My two cents

Kdocimo90 - i'm sorry, but it seems to me that you're uninterested in any answer that isnt 'buy three nudi's'. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Now myself, I'm glad so many have responded with their experiences. I was considering the blue velvet based on other posts but upon further research I'm concerned that my tank keeping skills might not be up to the task. I have a flatworm infestation of biblical proportions that I began treating when my tank was a 24g nano. I thought I had them all gone but after moving my rock into a new 120 they are back with vengenance. I think i'm gonna take a crack at the melanarus wrasse.. I have only a few fish now so there is plenty of room for him.

I also like the thought process somebody above had.. they must be eating something so maybe work on breaking their food chain. I have only a few tank cleaners and have avoided crabs to this point on the advice of several.

FWE is now out of the question as its just too expensive and I just dont like using chemicals unless I have no other choice. So here is my actual question, my 10g refugium is also infested with them, how should I treat it? The nudi might be happy in that low flow area but as I already said, im not sure I can keep him alive and nobody would see him in the fuge anyway. I can detach the fuge and use FWE if I must, but I'd almost prefer just filling the fuge with freshwater, lose the algae thats in it and start it over.

Thoughts?

I don't have a big enough tank for a six line... So what then? I'm considering a nudi...

A member of the genus Amblygobias might be a better option. At least these can be worked over to other food sources. The nudi would only starve after consuming the flat worms. If you knew of someone else who had a similar problem local to you you might be able to pass the nudi around to eliminate the problem in several systems. That's the only way I'd mess with one.
