Bluespot Jumped

My Bluespot Jawfish jumped last night.
Found it on the floor this morning.
It was too late to save it, although I tried.
He made it through this:

That is 2 offset layers of 3/8 in. netting.

RIP, it was a cool fish.

its amazing what they can get through. i had (rip) firefish get past a 1/4 inch gap past in glass top on my tank. i couldnt believe he could fit but i found him all dried up on the floor. ps im happier without the glass top

Sad. Sorry for your loss.

I have plastic grating over my tank and am always worried about my blenny making a jump for it when I'm not home. And it's probably a lot easier to get out of my tank than yours was.

Honestly no tank is jumper proof 100% of the time, I have lost at least 4+ fish to jumping over the years and I am going to the effort of building a custom birdnet screen top for my 72 bowfront that matches the curve. All we can do is our best and minimize the risk.

First fish in a long while lost to jumping.
As said, no cover is 100% escape proof.
Still, I've thought about him/her all day.
