Bongo Shrimp Feeding Schedule

For those of you who have bongo shrimp, how much and how often do you feed them? I have a fuge w/plenty of asterina stars, but I'm not sure how many to offer per day/week. Since most animals are opportunistic feeders and will eat as long as food is present, I don't want to overfeed if it's not necessary.

My asterinas are the typical size--about the circumference of a pencil eraser. Is 2/day a reasonable feeding schedule?

When I had two, I fed about 70-100 per week. When I had 8, I fed way too many to count. I had someone who was at my LFS's wholesaler who knew I went to that LFS and he would send me giant bags of stars collected throughout the wholesale place. Now that my LFS closed, I don't have a steady source to get stars from. Thus no more Bongo Shrimp. :sad2:

Take good care of them! I lost my first one because I didn't feed him after a week! They need to be fed very often and a LOT!

I might try getting more and try feeding choco chip stars. I don't know if they will eat those because I have a sand sifting star in my tank and they never touched him. So I don't know if they will even eat a choco chip star.

Oh boy--I had no idea. Luckily I have a friendly LFS who lets me collect asterinas. I just picked up 100 or so today, and I have a breeding population in my fuge.

Who knew a little shrimp could eat so much!

Yeah I was talking to someone who had a harly and they didn't really believe me but it's not joke. When I had mine, they always always always had a star in they clutches when ever you looked at them. The way I see it, it's better to have more than they need than having less.
