Bonsai Tree inspired Aquascape

Great looking tank. Do you dose anything? How do you keep the calcium up?

I use to carbon dose with Vodka and MB7, i don't anymore. The calcium has always been provided by a Ca reactor.

You could always try again. Your tank is perfect for them. Did they just start to diminish in some way or jump? Reason be is that I got 7 of them right now. All seems well and they eat like crazy. It's been a few weeks and haven't lost any except the original 8th one I started out with jumped ship and found a day later as a fish chip. I could replace that one cause the store has 2 left. But so far so good.

I had a nice long successful run with those guys. I do believe they get spooked very easily by quick movement of the other fishes and lost them one at a time either by jumping or down my overflow found in the filter sock.:mad2: That's why i feel they would do much better if my tank had no other fish but them in it.

Absolutely beautiful

Thank you

This is an inspiration! Love everything about this tank, including the beautiful little black tang! I am very very jealous!

Thank you, I love that black tang also, however he is growing, and sadly i may need to find him a new home.

amazing... you did a great job so far

Thanks for the positive feedback.

The update looks awesome! Thanks for sharing and keep it up!!

Thank you buddy its good to see you still following this thread:wave:

All I can say is wow

Thanks!

Amazing thorly! The growth and coloration of your sps is just wonderful. Still my favorite tank! Keep it up bro!

Just a few questions, I noticed you just have 1 vortech for flow. What's your setting and is it at 100% capacity? Do you have any other wave pumps aside from the return and vortech?

Salamat bro! If you look carefully on the left side back wall i have a Tunze hiding behind the rock work, i retrofitted a black PVC diversion pipe on to it.
Also the Vortech is @ 100% now with BB on a pulse/wave mode.

Oh and i hope Paquiao wins tonight :hammer:

Heres my contribution to bonsai reefing.
My friend spy was kind enough to come over and help create the scape.

Looks like you are off to a great start keep it up!

This might have been asked before but how do you keep no coraline algea from growing?

I scrape the back wall if any starts to grow, as far as anything else i just let nature takes its course. I do however think that the turbos keep them under control on the rocks.

I see. I couldnt really see the tunze at the back. Hehe

As for the fight, i hope he wins too. Go Pacman!

Kapatid, id just like to know what saltmix youre using? Im actually getting frustrated as to why my sps always turn brown then turn green after or in other words i have poor coloration. Im already using 20k 250 watts mh, a vortech and red sea coral pro saltmix. Im also dosing vodka which keeps my nutrient levels very low yet im still boggled as to why my sticks arent as colorful as yours. Any advise you can give me? Most people here in pi also have the same problem and were all getting frustrated as to why. Is it because all our corals are wild caught?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks again.

Just finished re-doing my rock work to a more bonsai-inspired setup last night and thought I'd share. Going from this:

Very nice tank still thor!

Btw if you decide to give that black tang a new home let me know! I've been looking for one.

Will definitely follow this thread. Wonderful growth, looks like you're doing wonderfully. Great dedication on your part. =) Don't ever tear this beautiful setup down!

Crazy-4Acros,
I have sincerely enjoyed your thread!
I re-read all of it again this evening and failed to find one element I was looking for.
Would you be kind enough to list the hardware inventory you are using, defining what has worked as planned and what has been a disappointment?
Also, what would you do differently if you knew then what you know now?
Would be great to see that listed in one post.
