has anyone had any problems with them. i bought a reef controller off them and would have to say they are by far the worst experience i have ever had. 1st controller channel two didnt work properly. then after 2 weeks of emails finally got a response. had to send the broken controller back two weeks latter and a tank with no lights on it received the replacement controller and the left side of the led display does not work lol so another email sent. two weeks latter finally a response. and nothing will come of it.
 
I forget where you're located but if you're near Syracuse, I have a bunch of those screens if you want to try swapping one out. Or you could just order one on the net or look for one in a local electronics store. It's a very common interface (Hitachi HD44780 compatible) in a 16x2 size. For instance, here are some that would work:

Of course if it's a problem on the main PCB this won't help. But if I were troubleshooting myself and the symptom was half the display not working, I would replace the display as a starting point.
 

Whoa, whoa, whoa.....these are Bright Aquatics fixtures not BoostLED fixtures (and they are sold) - I do not want anyone to get the wrong impression moreso than they already might have.

As for BoostLED, I have had a couple of Par30's from them have driver issues, and they have been replaced - not immediately (1-2 weeks), but replaced nonetheless.

It is too bad you have had such issues with the controller - try calling them and speaking to them directly instead of going through this via email, and good luck either way.

I have ordered 4 of them over a years time . Had one that of them with 1 channel not working. A few emails later they said send it back. I said I can't I need it to run the lights on the tank. They said place a order for a new one. They would send me a new one but wouldn't charge my card unless they got the old one back and it didnt show defective. No down time at all. I just ran 2 channels together that I would normaly run seperate. Everything went smooth...great customer service!

Oops. I was searching Nano-Reef for BoostLED and that topic came up (from a mention far down the thread). I saw it was cross posted here and somehow missed that neither topic was about BoostLED.

i just noticed last night when i went to go to bed that one of the channels on the new one they sent me with the broken screen that it doesnt completely shut off lol this company is a joke the only reason i even orderd from them in the first place was becouse it was a cheap controller and when i ordered drivers from them it lowerd the price of the drivers. i should of just spend the exctra $20 bucks and stuck with rapid for everything lol
 
To be fair, the Typhon controller was never designed to be sold commercially on the open market - it was designed for electronics hobbyists who wanted to build it themselves (and hence would be in a position to troubleshoot/support it themselves).
 
doont get me wrong i like the controller allot even thou im having a really hard time makeing a case for it. but if i had to do it again i would of just bought it off ebay where the guy makes them and sells them for 25 i bought one as a back up and have had no problems with it at all
 
emails from them usually take about 2 weeks to respond i call litterly every day and no one picks up lol they will replace it if i send it back but my tank will be without light and it will be another month before i get it back. just overall i would not recomend them
