Booster pump instalation

I'm installing a booster pump for my RO/DI unit and didn't receive very good instructions. I was wondering if I need to install a shut off valve on the water line so the pump isn't running all the time or just rely on the valve that is on the end of the clean water line.

I don't want to burn the pump out or have a flood if the valve at the end of the clean water line fails.

you need a shut off valve to kill power to the pump or it will continue to run. i got this one (along with the pump) from bulk reef supply and it works great. just install it in line at the output tube from your RO/DI unit.

As a resource with hook-up diagrams, Spectrapure's website can easily help. Just go down to the section for Booster pump kits and look at 'Booster pump w/pressure switch. If this is just for aquarium usage, ignore the part that Tees off for drinking water and just have the good "output" water go thru the float valve and into your holding tank. The idea is the same regardless of whether you have DI or pressure tanks, etc. An Auto Shutoff Valve (ASV), which is different that the pump's pressure switch shown above. It should also be added if you plan to leave your feed pressure on all the time, otherwise your float valve will have to hold back the unboosted house pressure (usually ~40psi) and may leak and overflow something. Diagrams are there for that as well. If you are still unsure, send me a PM.
