Borbonius Anthias Season?

I have been researching the Borbonius Anthias (Blotched), and am very interested in eventually owning one. I asked my LFS yesterday about them and he said they are a "Seasonal Fish." The only problem, was he did not know which season they become available in. So my question to you, is if you know what time of year I should expect to see these become available?

I know that there is a lot of work that goes into the acclimation and sales of these fish, hence the higher price, but would like an idea as to when to look and what to look for?

Thanks. I know this could be in the Noob section, but I thought I would try this area today.

Ok after a little extra research I see a trend that most shops are posting these as "In Stock" near November/ December. I guess that must be the season?

IIRC, we picked our trio up at one of the wholesalers in January, so you're about right. We've had them well over a year and they're doing super well.

What happens is when the shallower water is colder during the winter, you get fish that normally live in deeper water coming up to shallower depths where they're more easily captured.

^That makes sense. Probably decompress easier too.

Any pictures of yours? I love these fish. I would be happy with a couple to be my prize fish in the 180.

That's probably enuff...LOL I'm really fortunate to have a wife who is an accomplished aquarist AND an amateur photographer. :)

definitely a cool fish for us scorp lovers. it's got the spikes and the sting, but it's so beautiful too. if i had space i would totally get this fish.

No sting...just pretty cool fish. We have a FEW fish that don't sting ATM, but not many:

Blotched anthias (3)
flavogutattus anthias (1)
barnacle blennies (2)
OSFF (2)
SH (2)

Everything else will poke ya.
