Not really. A lot of people say you need those colors. I've been running LEDs for years, when I tried red n green, the only dif I noticed was extra algae growth. Just my 2cents. The lighting you have picks Shawn, should be awesome! Hope I'm not ruffeling any feathers here, just wanted to let you know you shouldn't worry about it.

Shawn - Sweet tank! Can't wait to see pics of it on the stand and the rest of the build thread. I know you've really been planning this in your mind for a long time... so wonderful to see it happen!

As for leds, rumor has it that there's going to be a great discussion of leds and their various spectrums at the March 15th MARS meeting. The led fixture that Jeff recently built for me is just crazy over my zoas & palys. I'm having a growth explosion and my colors are awesome.

I thought about adding Cyan, green and UV to my Sunbrites if the ballast will run all four colors.

Really depends on the wavelength you added. Green is not very important to photosynthesis (ie. the reason most leaves look green is that green is the wavelength not used and thus reflected back) The correct red to add to a led fixture is 660nm Hyper Red which is a very important peak in the requirements for chlorophyl a. These 660nm red leds have just recently become available. The red that was available before, approx 630nm is very good at growing algae, and is widely used for led lighting of algae turf scubbers.

So could I add these to my existing driver? I have a 24" Sunbrite that's all in one. If the ballast can power them then ill buy them and see if you...Jeff can help me install them

Might be easier just to add a supplement bar with the correct LEDs to add to the Kessils. I designed something for Jesse along those lines

No ruffled feathers since I don't run leds but why are they in the radion pro then?

I agree that the Kessils could use some supplementing for SPS. I'm runing 1 360 w on my 57 mixed reef. Also put a 150 10k that I already had for more lighting. SPS doing Ok but not getting to colors I would like.

They did it for the cannons. Its basicly a circle flat stock that has the center cut out amd you attatch different leds on the outside. I think they had them for the cannon led units. But could diy somesthing lije it for a kessil
