Is it alright if I were to use company bottle "spring water"?

Your britta is considered RO... RO/DI is recommended. RO is better than tap, but still considered a source of problems for aquairums. Mostly adding silicates and nitrates.

I don't think the Britta does anything useful for a saltwater tank. If your own RO-DI unit isn't feasible at this point, I'd suggest sticking to distilled and hope for the best. Topoff for water lost to evaporation should be fresh water. Topoff for replacing skimmer output needs to be salt.![]()
When you clean your skimmer, the water that goes down the drain is saltwater and thus will lower salinity over time (A long depending on quantity of waste). Water change water needs to be salt water. Finally, top off water from evaporation should be pure water, no salt.Originally posted by Doc Hammer
And so 20-25% water change is salt as well. And what is "replacing skimmer output"?
