Bought a new beauty....

def. A. Melanopus... nice clown, i had a pair awhile back myself.. mine were WC and i forget what region they came from... mine also had a bright blue stripe..

She is from the Solomon Islands WC. Her stripe is beautiful. At what age do they normally get the blue tint to the stripe? Does anyone know? I assume that she is of perfect breeding age from her size and coloration, correct me if I am wrong. And, thank you, I have had my eye on her for a while and just had to talk myself into not getting her and then into getting her, lol.

So you did go and pic her up!!

Have you noticed anything unique in regards to her personality?

Do you have an anemone for her? What size tank is she going in?

Keep us posted on how she does and if there are any other distinguishing characteristics.

For right now she is going into a 46 gallon tank. We can not have larger than 50 gallons here unless we have written permission from the landlord and with the number of tanks I have, LOL, I am sure 50 gallons will be as large as we get. I have two BTA's in my B&W clown tank. The red is my black females home and I will not take it from her. The new green one is doing great (just bought) but is too small for her right now since she is rather large. She so far is very friendly (surprise, surprise) and comes up to the front of the tank to meet me already. She obviously has no isea what flake or pellet food is, but since my freezer is overrun with fish food, it's no biggie. I will definitely keep everyone posted as you do not see her color here EVER which is why I had no clue what she was at first. She was also in a tank with several small tangs and clowns at the LFS for over a month and I never saw her act in any way threatening to them so maybe she will be a breeze to pair up (I can dream right?)

Well, if you have noticed that she has been peacful to all the other fish at the LFS, you acctualy run the chance of getting a pair of clowns quite effortlessly.

Good luck!

Hopefully it works out that way. I would like to give her a couple of months to herself here before getting her a mate. I am prepared to buy her a few in the long run if she does not approve of them and does way with them :)

Thank you very much.

She is under a utility light so her colors are washed out bad in photos, but she is getting used to the camera now and is starting to become a camera hog.

The blue is incredible!

Wow, what a GORGEOUS girl she is! Looks like she's a sweetie as well, and not at all stressed in her QT :)
Best of luck with her, hopefully you'll find her an equally beautiful mate that she'll accept. She's lovely alone, but I imagine she'll be that much prettier as part of a pair.

I will most definitely find her a mate that looks like her. She will be a sight to see once she is paired up I am sure. Her only blemish is that tiny little nick in her top fin from the LFS tank that was SLAP FULL of tangs.

Thank you very much. She was a nice find for me. One of the prettiest clowns I have seen IMO.

And she now has brook. I am off to get formalin. ARG! Hopefully she will recover. She started getting stressed the night before last night but I chocked it up to being in the new home so I minimized stress as much as possible. Welllllll, woke up this morning and she is covered :(

Wish me luck everyone.

I am going to use Formalin as a last ditch effort because she is so stressed. I started coppersafe at half the dosage today and will increase it to full dosage tomorrow if she handles this well. As of right now, she has not eaten in two days, has stringy areas on her flesh, breathing rapidly, is discolored, and just generally looks poor. I am hopeful that she will start eating soon since brook can cause malnourishment and dehydration.

shes beautiful and sucks that shes got brook now..hopefully she'll recover now, good luck with her hope things work out...

Thank you. I do hope that she does. I decided to go with Formalin (2 drops per gallon) since she had a bad reaction to copper. Here is a short clip during my water change today to show her rapid breathing.

Keep an eye on the pH and crank up the aerators when using formalin, especially in a bare Hospital tank.

..... I knew that they treated the system with copper so I requested that a test be performed in front of me and it was less than .25ppm so she should not be sterile correct?
Did not see the mention of a bad reaction to copper, but there are many documented breeding pairs of clowns treated with copper in this forum.

Best of luck with a beauty.

I had a very large air pump running on her tank. The pH and ammonia were checked very frequently and I also use the livemeters along with testing. When I woke up at 6 am, she was hardly breathing and not responsive and now RIP. She did not make it. I have never experienced brook before myself and now I am kicking myself in the rearend. If I had of started treatment as soon as her stripe darkened and she stopped eating two days ago, I believe she would have pulled through. But, I learned a valuable lesson here.
