ok i am going to start feeding my smaller crocea clams. i plan on putting them in a small tupperware bin and adding some home grown phyto. i use for my Rotifier cultures, my question is how often and how long should i leave them in the bowl for? will they turn the water clear? any info would be great

Yes, i've heard that it is "unnatural" and in some cases harmful. They need small amounts at a time i guess. Not huge amounts all at once. I'd just add small amounts of phyto to your tank every couple of days.

I want to tag along. I picked a small Crocea the other day at my LFS's request (some other person with just NO lights was going to pick up).

He is about 3" long so I would like to feed. Bowl feeding is out as he has quite firmly decided the rock that he is on is home and has attached him self there.

I have been adding about 4ml of Kent Marine Pyto to my 75 every 3 to 4 days. I just add to the return pump intake in the sump.

Is this enough for them to feed?

clams do not need to be fed phyto they are photosynthetic. even baby clams. good water quality and strong lighting is all that is needed.

Interesting the opinions. Most written litature that I have seen says that junaviles under 4" need to be fed for growth and good health.

I feed a little of DT's premium reef blend and oyster eggs every 10 day to my corals with a turkey baster. I gennerally squirt a little on the clam<4.5 inch- crocea> and he seems to like it and is very heealthy. May not be nessesary but everybody likes to eat out occasionally
