Boy am I glad these guys survived

After I had to move my system earlier this year, I went through some new tank phases. In an attempt to savage some nice acros, I was able to save some frags. Some of these held on by a small piece of tissue and a few polyps. Just goes to show you that you should never throw out a damaged piece if you see any tissue left on the frag.

These pieces never lost any tissue but the browned out big time. Here is what they look like now. I'm very glad these made it as well and they should end up being really nice before too long.

Wow, I'll never throw away a halfdead Acro after seeing this :)

The one in post #2 was beautiful! What Acropora is it?

Im so happy for you! I actually had the same thing happen to 2 of mine and they are coming back. Have 3 polyps on my purple plasma and 8 on my aquadelight. Funny thing how the smallest sections can come back

Thanks! I think picture #2 is an Acropora Microclados. It actually had the least amount of tissue on it compared to the other frags. I didn't even realized that it had polyp extension until I took the picture. Hopefully it will come back nicely like the species is known for doing. Things have been turning around slowly since around the end of May.

Wow even though you had new tank phases, you must have very good husbandry. The corals now look so good. They are going to be gorgeous in no time! Good job!

Thanks. I actually have not been doing a whole lot of anything recently.

Here is a better shot of picture #2 (Acropora Microclados) that I took tonight.

Look at the polyp in the bottom right on the acro. You can see how the polyp is growing before the tissue. Kind of interesting.

Can't believe I forgot about this one. Barely held on too. Superman Montipora Digitata.

looks good man. I guess it's a good thing I wait for my sps to turn completely white before I toss it down into the sump

Nice work! It's amazing how resilient these corals can be. I had a similar experience where only 7-8 tips of a coral survived. I let it re-colony the old skeleton a bit, then trimmed off all of the health tissue to a rock. The coral is doing awesome now and growing super fast! Definitely worth saving.
