Well my skimmer was pulling out some dark green nasty smelling waste before I left on a business trip on Tuesday so I emptied it before I left. Well my GF got home today and I got a call from her asking what the terrible smell in the house was and as it turned out I forgot to rinse the sink out and the skim was just festering :p

haha... I flush mine down the toilet, then follow it up with some toilet cleaner... the smell is gawd awful.

At least I am not home for another day! The GF went to the store and bought Glade plugins and put them all over the house lol.

I (now) always flush it down the toilet. I used to dump it down the drain, but one day my wife said there is a scanky smell coming from the sink. I took apart the p-trap & some of the crap was still in the bottom & seam to be growing.....That was the last time I used the sink

Well, not ten minutes ago I cleaned my skimmer (in the sink)! Guess I should use the toilet too. But, the smell doesn't seem to bug me like it does most people.

Sounds like you need a bigger tank!
Ok, that has nothing to do with this thread, but for some reason thoughts of a bigger tank always make me feel better.

Matt

I jeep a jug of bleach under the sink, pour some after each time I empty the skimmer's waste collector.

... apparently some of you are still getting housetrained by your GFs/wives, and some of you have learned to CLEAN UP afterwards! Remember, the job isn't finished until you've cleaned up

This is doubly important if your significant other already has reservations about the time/money you spend on the tank.

I had placed some thawed food in a small cup of tank water to a side shelf and forgot about it.3 days later my house smelled worse then something i cant mention. Almost as bad as some CSC (crime scene cleanup) jobs ive done.
