Boyds Red Slime Remover vs. Tridacna Clam

My experience is as follows:

I dosed the tank according to instruction.

the Corals, inverts and fish made it thru no prob

my 8" iridescent purple blue Tridacna Clam DOA.

It opened its mouth wide by the next morning and by the following day it had a perma-grin.

Prior to that the Clam was happy as a clam. I fed it phyto and it had grown 2 inches since I added it to the tank.

Ouch!
That sucks.

I guess the lesson for everyone is that no matter how safe a product says it is, you are always taking a chance when you add any chemical additives to your tank.
I've used both Boyd's Chemi-Clean and UltraLife's Red Slime Remover in the past with no problems... of course, I have no clams so I wasn't in the same boat as you.

i've used red slime remover w/ two clams and never had a problem. i usually dose about 1/4 of what the bottel reccomends.

UltraLife's Red Slime Remover never gave me a problem but the first time I tried Boyds red slime

:uzi: Perma-grin clam

I am not saying this will happen every time and some of you may get good results.

Their Chemipure rOx imho

I dunno if it makes a difference or not, but the only difference between their Chemipure and the black bottle chemipure is that the black bottle "special grade" or w/e it is has some red slime remover in it, I believe. I remember comparing the two bottles next to each other, and that was the only difference, which was weird that they would suggest running it like that all the time...
