Hey guys,
Is there anybody out there successfully growing the BPC Flame Thrower chalice in there tank? I am just curious. It seems pretty rare these days.

I had it before my tank crashed last year..... They are a little finicky. Just need to keep water parameters stable and make sure your alk is between 8.5 and 9 dkh, cal 425-450 and mag at 1325-1350

What constitutes a "flame thrower chalice?"

I bought a small frag a few month back that was kind of a washed out red. Now, it has grown some, but I'm starting to see these small yellow spots here and there, and some of them are accompanied by a greyish purple color as well. Just a small spot right next to these yellow spots. It's only about the size of a half dollar, but I will try and take a picture for you today or tomorrow so you know what I mean. Does this sound like it might be on the right track? TY.

When referring to the chalice as BPC Flamethrower, it is only the old school Blue Planet Corals lineaged Flamethrower chalice.

This thread discusses the topic pretty well.

And also references a really good article on this coral's history in Reef Hobbyist Magazine , starting on page 30. You might have to register to view it.

Mines been growing great for me... Had it around 6 months and has popped a few eyes out recently... Can't wait to grow it into a colony...

No, no orange rim. It's still very small though, and these yellow spots just started to show up not too long ago. Should it already have this orange rim by now, or is this something that might develop over time?

It depends if it is fresh cut or not. Give it some time it might develop one. The orange is all of the new growth.
