Brain Coral Help

My salinity got a little low. It got as low as 31.6. I've been raising it slowly. It's now at 33.

My brain coral remained open the whole time and was what I thought happy. However, today I came downstairs and noticed that it has almost completely come off its skeleton. It is still inflated. The moth isn't gapping open. Can it be saved? I'm worried about it completely detaching and getting sucked into my vortech.

Whoa! You might want to look into Polyp Bailout. Something probably stressed the coral out and this is the result.

A nice looking coral you have there. I hope all turns out well.

All I can think of is to keep it in a low flow area where the polyp is least likely to sail away. I'd also feed it if you can.

If it does completely detach, perhaps setting it in a properly shaped divot low in the rock work would give it a chance to attach to something. I remember using rubber bands to gently secure mushrooms to rock, giving them a chance to atach which they always did. I'm not necessarily saying that is a good idea but might work out. Just a thought.

my brain started doing poorly and i moved it under a ledge so it was in low flow, low light and its now doing better than ever.
