Branching Black Sun Coral

If you can try to feed it every alternate day for good growth.

Thanks for the heads up.
I did feed again tonight, was able to coax out a few more heads.
Typically before I buy anything I research the crap out of it. I even go so far as downloading the manual and read it cover to cover before I buy. I did this with my first orange sun coral. I brought it back from death. It was a LFS rescue. So with that success, I figured I would try a black sun coral. I figured pretty much the same care. Well after a lot more research, I find that the black sun corals are more demanding for both flow and food. So for the time being, this one will get fed daily until I see the tissue starting to regrow, then I'll cut back to feeding every 2-3 days.

Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. This is my black sun which I got back in August when it was a skeleton on a piece of live rock which had six other sun corals on it (including one which I suspect to be a balanophyllia and another a tubastraea floreana).

I nursed it back to health along with the others and now it has 11 heads. It's a great feeling to be able to watch them recover and flourish. Like yours mine is black with no signs of green so I'd love to find a green one to add to my tank.

Looks great!
My LFS also had a yellow one. If the black one pulls thru, then I'll be on the lookout for a yellow.

4th Day Update

4th Day Update

Looks pretty happy so far!
Not bad for $40 bucks!
Hope the tissue regrows over the exposed skeleton.

Not bad for $40! That has opened up nicely. The tissue will grow back over the skeleton and spread on to the frag tile.
On another note, when you get the orange 'black' sun please post pics. I think those are less common than the black/brown type but more attractive.

Now have this green, along with an orange, yellow and black.
Looking forward to see it open.
