Branching Octopus Frog spawn

I have a very large colony 15+ heads of branching octopus frogspawn. A month ago a cut a frag off and accidentally cut the wrong spot taking two heads, so I just cut it again and put the single off to the side in my tank.

The single has since split and the head is bigger than any of the other heads on the colony. I've noticed recently that the pieces on the colony that are closer together are not spreading as much as they used too. The one head farthest away is spreading much larger. Do you need to prune these branching LPS? Should I remove a few heads to make space for others?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pruning to make space is generally not required with Euphyllia. Pruning to make frags on the other hand is done often.

A picture would help if you have a specific concern.

No specific concern. I just noticed the frag I made has grown much faster and is spreading out much wider now than the parent colony heads. It was originally one of the smallest heads on the bunch which is how it accidentally got snipped with the original frag I made. I cut below the big head I was aiming for and didn't even notice this one off to the side.
