Breeding Clarki clowns

It took me 3 trys before I finally paired up my clarki. What eventually worked best for me was to find the smallest clark I could ( he was about 1/2" ).
I had resisted going too small before because my female is big and mean and I thought a tiny clown wouldn't stand a chance.As it turned out it was the only one that stood a chance :lol:

Did your clown kill the other ones or did they just never pair up? I'm just asking because I have a big female and was trying to pair her with a ~2" one. She chases the smaller one, but doesn't hurt it. They don't really swim near one another, cause the smaller one is afraid of the bigger one. They've been together for a little over 2 weeks now, and I thought they'd act more like a pair by now. Should I go and buy a tiny one to replace the small one I have now or is it too soon to tell?

I managed to remove the other 3 before the female actually killed them but you could tell she meant to have them removed from the tank come hell or high water.The first male was with her a year and a half before she decided to kill it. They had never actually paired and there was a lot of chasing (by the female) and a lot of twitching(by the male).
One day I heard a strange noise coming from the tank (Did you know clarkii clowns can make a fairly loud grunting/knocking noise when their mad?) The female had the male cornered under a rock and everytime he poked his nose out she would try to rip it off. The next 2 males, when I heard that noise I quickly grabbed the net and scooped him out.
The fourth one was the charm and for the first 3 months there was a fair bit of chasing but nothing vicious. One day they started cleaning off the rock together and before you know it they had a batch of eggs

Wow. I didn't know they could make a noise loud enough you could hear away from the tank. Well so far the female cases the smaller one from time to time. She hasn't nipped his fins or anything, but that might just be because he's faster than her. I guess I'll wait a month or two and see what happens. Thanks for the details!
