breeding clownfish

Does anyone have advice about how to transport clownfish fry off of a piece of liverock over to a breeding tank? I would just move the rock but there are about 8 rose anemonies on it and I don't want to lose them by moving them over on the piece of liverock.

Are they fry or eggs?

I haven't had to move clownfish fry, but I have used a large spoon to move chiclid fry. You just have to be very slow and gentle. And I used water from the brood tank to avoid any shock.

Hope this helps

Thnx for the reply. Clownfish spawn fry that are adhered pretty well to whatever they lay them on.

But when do the fry become free swimming would you have the opportunity to move them then?

Chiclid experience talking :)

Um. You mean Clownfish eggs I hope. They aren't fry until they hatch. First you need to establish your food chain. Phyto / Rots and lots of both. Then your best bet is to place a tile where they laid and get them to lay on the tile so you can just remove it. Get the book "Clownfishes" by Joyce D Wilkerson. It explains everything.

grimm, like rkelman said. You need lots of rotifers to feed the little fry when they hatch. Then if they are still in your tank you will need a DIY larvae snagger to catch them.

This is my older snagger version.
