Breeding Nerites?

Has anyone need able to get the eggs to survive till adulthood? I have so many eggs on my glass it has become a nuisance. I can set up a brackish water tank or I can throw them in with the brine shrimp. Any experience would be nice. Thanks.

This was more coincidental than anything, but I had a couple nerites in a freshwater tank. I decided to turn the freshwater tank into a saltwater pico. I wanted to save my nerites, so I thought I'd slowly acclimate them to saltwater. I put some marine sand in the freshwater tank with just the nerites, and they started to multiply like crazy after a couple weeks. I had baby nerites everywhere. Eventually I added salt to the water, and got it up to saltwater standards, and most of the babies survived. Overall, I think brackish water is key for nerites in development.

I will try this with some nerites. What salinity did you keep them at?

To tell you the truth, I didnt check salinity. It was just whatever the marine sand got the water to. I kept them like that for a couple months while I was gathering saltwater equipment. After I got my salt tank setup, then I started to pay attention to slowly raising salinity. I imagine it was pretty low. There may be some specific optimal numbers on the internet for salinity and nerites.

Most nerites are actually from brackish waters. Thats why they dont breed in SW or FW tanks. There are some that are more tolerant in one or the other, and I know Reef Cleaners claims they have some actual SW nerites. My nerites were purchased FW (no babies), lived there for 6 months, transitioned to brackish water over 3 months (lots of babies), moved on to full SW 6 months (no babies) and promptly died. Maybe died from SW conditions, or some other issue. In general, I would recommend purchasing nerites from a collection area as close to our SW conditions as possible.

Found a couple baby nerites today. I've counted 6 on my glass and live rock. Probably more hiding.
