breeding tank

i all breeder
i have alot acrylic laying around ,,,i want to build a breeding tank 5feet long,,with many section but not sure what size would be perfect for each section
i am thinking 60"x12"x12"?? each section 12" ?? or how do i do this? thannks

You dont mention what you want to breed. I would recommend at least 10G in each compartment for smaller clowns and banggais where as you might want to divide it in half for bigger clowns like clarkiis and maroons.

If you can go deep. 60Lx16 or 18Dx 12 or 14" then do 5 sections that are 12"wide

would i leave some devider removeable so that i can remove for bigger home?

so does that mean you want several breeding pairs? I was thinking of doing something similar down the road but using the divided tank for grow out intead of broodstock...
I came across a tank on craigslist (unfortunatly i didn't get it) but it was 60 x 14 x 12
I was thinking you could add a few dividers making 3 chambers of increasing size. as the fry grow, you could move them into the next larger chamber...
you could set up a 10 gallon to breed your percs in...
just a thought

its gonna be alot of batch so i rather have more room for brother and sister

I wouldnt do the removable divider because the newborn fry are not going to need alot of water. It will also take more food to fill 5G rather than 10 or 15G

If I were you I would build it with 1 chamber for the broodstock pair then 2 or 3 more chambers for grow out. Then have a couple spare 10 or 15G tanks for babies. When the babies grow you can move them into a chamber with same size babies.

I would just buy multiple 10g tanks. They only cost about $10/ea. You can start with just one 10g tank, and that should serve well to raise the fry. If they reach metamorphisis and grow out, just buy another 10g tank.

I like your idea of one tank w' multiple separators. It would look cool. However, I don't think it's very practical. Preventing pinpoint leaks between each panel would be very challenging and probably not worth the trouble...

Why? Are you worried about imperfections or bubbles in the seals? Have you ever bred clownfish before?

If not, believe me, you'll have a ton more issues/challenges than your worries about the quality of 10g tanks...

10g tank very easy to crack if my kid though a toy or accidently hit
3/4 acrylic is very strong and i never have to worry flood and i have acrylic to use up
if its easier for small indivitual tank,,then i will be all small tank instead one big long tank,,,but a Big no no for 10g glass tank ever thanks
