breeding

I usually use Vigo italian bread crumbs for breading and I prefer Ragu garden vegetable to Prego. LOL

(ps - its "breeding" HTH)

Clowns lay eggs and to the best of my knowledge don't breed. The female larger clown will lay a clutch of eggs and the male will then fertilize them. The male (smaller) will then fan the eggs and keep watch over them until they hatch.
What kind of clowns do you have?

The female is going to be bigger in the ventral area, and she does not eat in two days.

As you can see in the picture she will get this small think in her ventral area

"Breeding" is simply the production of offspring. All animals do it :spin2:

I'm very interested in if it is normal for female to stop eating when preparing to lay eggs.

I am having the same issues with my pair of Ocellaris. One of them has not eaten for two days, but still seems very alert and active and a few days ago she was nipping at my mushrooms, almost like she was getting them to back up to make room.

Well from that pic I would say that right now theres a 75/25 chance of eggs. When they expose the "depositer" this means that they are close to laying there eggs. She may not be eating because she is picking at the algea and bugs that are where she wants to lay her eggs.Just keep an eye out for any orange dots or such.

Thanks,

Yes, that is normal. Ever since my clowns started spawning they pay much less attention to food, especially the male. It is important they get the highest nutrition in the few days where there are no eggs.

ok i know all the stuff about breeding (i do read), i know the biggest 1 is the female, and the males is the little 2 but my clown fish is eating fine but she is fater than normal, the 1 male hangs out with the female and the other hosted in my lether, should i move them in a qt tank, will it stress her out to much, or should i keep them in my DT witch is a 180gals

Wow my clowns apparently don't read any books since they eat like no tomorrow right up until egg laying time. Prior to egg laying they do their "dance" routine a lot. Frankly mine do not show any behavioral changes prior to egg laying. However I am far from a clownfish breeding expert. Let me raise a few more past meta before I can have any confidence in that area.

The video doesn't show me much other than a clown gobbling food. Maybe video them when not feeding?
